Poster Art for Secrets

February 25th, 2009 | Category: Secret Magiks of Maine

posterprintI have an upcoming book that I am self publishing. One of the parts of the package that I need to finish was the poster. I felt though the book is filled with some really great art that I wanted to make something new that spoke of the feel for the book.  So, working from the title of the book “The Secret Magics of Maine” I came up with a concept of a fairy that was slightly hiding keeping a secret.

Costa Rica -The rain forest and volcano

Rainforest Picture.

Rainforest Picture.

After four hours in a van bumping along the dirt roads we jump into a boat the floats quickly across a gorgeous lake we I learn later is the grave site of an entire village.  We arrive at Arenal Resort and are greeted with 4 star treatment.  The next day we hike through the rain forest, then down a cliff to a cool swim at base of a waterfall all before lunch.  We go sit at the bottom of the volcano then travel to the hotsprings to relax. It was all a very full day but one I hope to not forget for a while.

Costa Rica Monte Verde

February 24th, 2009 | Category: Inside the Mind

My sister has always wanted to go to Costa Rica since high school.  It all started when she started an after school, grass roots club to save rain forest and it was all to buy land in this particular area of Monte Verde. More specifically the Children’s Rain Forest. Our afternoon there was filled with odd cultural combination, Zip Lining, and a suspension bridge walk.  Then the next morning we traveled through the cloud forest looking at trees that had spikes, and figs that strangled the life out of the trees that would suport them.

The Selected Photos from Lindz

The Selected Photos from Lindz

So it was a great trip. We traveled for 9 days, and saw rain forests, jungles, cloud forests, cities, beach towns, a volcano [hidden by clouds], a multiple shades of beaches. We all had cameras and they are all being put together in a single group, but I know as a group we have crested over 2000 photos, thank god for digital because it would cost an estimated 900 dollars to develop all of that. But here is collection of photos that my great friend Lindz took.

Sazoz

So while I was still at Medomak High School I seemed to have a lot of time on my hands.  I have books filled with pencil drawings some good, some bad, some never finished, and some have hung in my sub conscious and have now become the seeds of books I have done and books I dream of doing.  But I can tell you one thing for certain. I loved to make art that was surreal and about alien like things. I was never for the grotesque I will leave that for my friend Eve. But did have a good run back in in my senior year of make some strange creatures. So for all your viewing pleasure I have brushed off the dust cracked the spine of the book that is held together by only tape and scanned some of it in.  with out further ado.
